Cornish Studies at the University of Exeter

In the third and final year of the MA in Cornish Studies at the University of Exeter, students are required to submit a dissertation of 15,000-20,000 words.

For my dissertation, I chose to explore Cornish identity in America in the 21st Century. Because of time constraints, this exploration concentrated on the states of California and Wisconsin, both popular destinations for Cornish emigrants in the nineteenth century.

The dissertation was submitted in July 2004, and I was awarded Merit. I would like to thank everyone who took part. I am also keen to hear your views on this topic. You can contact me by using the "contact" option which appears at the top of this page.

If you would like to know more about my dissertation, you can read my research proposal by clicking on the link to the left. The document is available here in pdf format, and I am also hoping to sell bound copies to help fund further study. Please contact me if you would like any further information.

I am now deep into research on my PhD topic, Cornish Convict Women. More information coming here soon.
